FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

Does a tattoo hurt?
It does, but probably not as much as you think, and you walk away with a great piece of art made just for you. The pain level varies on the individual, the placement on the body, and many other factors.

Is a tattoo really permanent?
Tattoos are permanent, but the ink can fade away with time in areas that are often exposed to the sun or if not properly cared for. Sacred Ornaments does not offer temporary options.

Is it safe?
Any puncture to the skin carries a risk of infection. Before getting a tattoo, check that it is performed in a reputable salon under sanitary conditions by a trained artist who follows proper sterilization procedures and takes other precautions such as wearing gloves, washing hands, etc. A good artist should be able to explain the procedure and demonstrate what will happen without making you feel like you’re asking too many questions. Sacred Ornaments artists only use sterile, single-use, disposable needles and equipment so you can rest assured we put a premium on safety.

How does it work?
Tattoo needles inject permanent ink into the second layer of skin, the dermis.

What should I consider when designing my tattoo?
Aside from the obvious what image/text you want tattooed and where you want it done consider:
1) What dimensions you would like?
2) Is the size appropriate for the body part?
3) Will you use color?
4) Do you want it visible on an average day?
5) Will this be a standalone design or will it be incorporated with others in the future?
6) Will the design and level of detail work in this medium— i.e. tattoo ink on the skin?
Our artists will be happy to answer your questions during a consultation, book here.
